Good afternoon everyone. First off I hope each and every one of you are enjoying your Sunday, I wanted to take a moment and talk to all of our Customers and Facebook Followers about what we are doing to increase our production, our quality, our customer service, and what we are doing to create a well improved customer experience. Firstly, I'm going to give you a little background on how Rough Country Rustic Furniture came to be.
RCRF was founded by my Wife and myself almost 4 years ago, I have always had a passion for crafting items from wood and a passion for working hard to support my family. Early on in our furniture business we started crafting items in our basement and setting up at local shows and renting booths at craft markets, obviously this did not generate enough revenue to support our growing family of four soon to be five so i continued to do what i Knew best and that was operating a chainsaw 12 plus hours a day, trimming trees, logging, and cutting and selling firewood. One day just like any other in the Timber, I was in the process of felling trees to be skidded out and I began to cut a tree that unknowingly had a decayed center, its base sprang back off of its stump onto my left leg, pinning me to the ground and breaking some bones in my foot as well. After being laid up unable to work in the woods for a few weeks and discussing my passion for woodworking and with the full support of my wife we took what savings we had to buy material, and formed RCRF, then we began making and selling our items on local Facebook yard sale sites, and created our own website. Many of the items we crafted were custom requests which is something we love to do, creating and building a special piece just for that one customer that they couldn't find anywhere else. We had a customer come out to our home one afternoon and asked us if we could make him a bookcase, but he want something that no one else in the area had, he wanted it to have hidden compartments in it for firearm storage. That one custom order changed our business forever. Once that piece was completed and viewed on our Facebook page it seemed that almost every one of our following customers wanted a piece of furniture that had a concealed compartment in it some place or another. From bed sets, dining sets, living room sets, to decor may of the products that we offer were thought up by our customers that we had the pleasure of making a reality for them. We were starting to make a name for ourselves and shipping custom pieces all over the United States. We then added on to a storage building that we had and turned it into a 500 square foot build room which was alot more space to us at the time considering our build space in our basement was less than 200 square feet. With an increasing work load, I could no longer build, finish and personally deliver all of our pieces, so we brought on my father in law, Tom, to assist in the raw building of smaller items and to assist in the delivery of our furniture to our customers. As with any business we were able to produce more so we started taking on more projects and more customers, and we grew to the point that we need more help and needed to expand again. At that time we enlisted my Brother in law Robbie, a 6 time deployed combat engineer in the USAF.Robbie exceeded all of our expectations and became vital in building assistance, and furniture finishing. We then realized that we were going to need even more operational space and that it was time to expand our building operations again, so I went to the bank with our business plan and operational budget, and the size of building we thought we would need to sustain and grow our business, with the banks help and a great Contractor Curtis Smith, we had a 30ftx60ft shop building built and were again taking on new custom work and needing to bring in more help.We grew to a 6 member staff in that shop where we were able to supply our customers with real handcrafted American made Furniture, built on top of Whetstone Hill in Mountain Grove Missouri. We were really doing something great every day. While operating in our new shop we had made several handmade flags without gun concealment to sell and also give to customers when they came out to pick up their bedroom sets. One day while a customer was picking up their gun concealment bed set they custom ordered an LEO Thin Blue Line Flag with gun concealment. Once that item debuted on our Facebook page, the response was exciting and overwhelming, something we did not anticipate but are extremely grateful for. We all started working 12 to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week to keep up with demand for our furniture and our flags,we also had to bring in some more highly motivated local craftsman to assist us so our customers wouldn't have to suffer an extended wait, I then turned. to my friend and Master Carpenter Curtis Smith. Curtis, who built our new shop offered to assist, and with his help we were able to retain some of the best local custom builders, and custom cabinet makers in this area, and were able to maintain and produce a 100% handmade quality product to our customers. Due to the overwhelming acceptance and demand for our products during the holiday season it did extend our production times, and we have received some bad reviews because of it. We have also received some complaints about our customer service representatives. To remedy these concerns from our customers, increase production of our quality products, reduce wait times and improve our overall business operations, we have taken the following steps; Curtis and myself have joined our operations together under the same roof and moved into a 27,000 square foot facility In Norwood. Between our two businesses, we now employ over 35 highly motivated individuals dedicated to handcrafting and providing you your quality product in a timely fashion. We are now crafting and shipping between 530-750 orders a week. We have also added a full time quality control supervisor to ensure that the money you spend on a quality product is delivered. We have also added 2 members to our web Customer service department bringing us up to three full time customer service representatives. We have also added a full time research and development department, to insure each product is being utilized and crafted to the best of its ability, and working on extremely custom orders as well. I would like to apologize to any of our customers that have experienced an extended wait time and I ensure you that we are working extremely hard for you and are gaining ground rapidly. I know that this is a lot to read and take in but i want to keep all of my Customers and Facebook followers informed on our history and growth and the steps we are implementing to ensure that Rough Country Rustic Furniture is here for years to come, providing you with an affordable, great, handmade, solid wood product that you can enjoy and utilize for years.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, your business, and your Patronage. May you all have a great rest of the weekend and a safe, productive work week ahead
